The association was established on January 4th, 1997 by breeders from the State Studs of Janów Podlaski, Michałów, Kurozwęki and Białka, as well as by private Arabian horse breeders. Its seat was chosen in Janów Podlaski Stud.

The General Assembly of the PAHBA takes places each year in the spring. In 2019 it was held on the 2-3th of March. These meetings are hosted by Janów Podlaski and Janów Podlaski Stud.

The first Honorary President of the PAHBA was Andrzej Krzyształowicz - a retired director of Janów Podlaski Stud, who held this position until his death on September 19th, 1998. During the 3rd Assembly in 1999 the association bestowed the function of Honorary President to Ignacy Jaworowski, a retired director of Michałów Stud. Since Director Jaworowski's death on September 18th, 2004 the PAHBA remained without an Honorary President until the General Assembly in 2011.
In order to join the PAHBA a recommendation from three regular members is required, as well as a filled out membership declaration, sent to association's seat address. Such an application for membership will be viewed by the PAHBA Board.
